This stage takes you from the Scarness halfway along Bassenthwaite Lake to the A595 road near Cockermouth and is approximately 12.5km or 8 miles in length with a total ascent of 177m and total descent of 128m.

Alternatives

This section has an alternative route to include Cockermouth which, if you take it, probably makes it a good end to a stage. You diverge at Iselgate where you head generally south west rather than continuing in a broadly westerly direction.
